Overview

During the workshop, participants learned about the history of conflict and reconciliation in the watershed and how this relates to current integrated planning approaches. We identified key water risks and opportunities for the region and explored the role of historically underrepresented communities in watershed planning.

Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA)

Formed in 1968 as a joint power authority under California law. SAWPA focuses on a broad range of water resource issues including water supply reliability, water quality improvement, recycled water, wastewater treatment, groundwater management, brine disposal, and integrated regional planning.

One Water, One Watershed (OWOW)

The Program encourages integrated management of water resources and provides funding for multi-benefit projects that support watershed sustainability.

 

Growing Water Smart Program (GWS)

Growing Water Smart (GWS), a joint-program of the Sonoran Institute and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy’s Babbitt Center, is addressing a critical need by training and assisting communities to use land and water most efficiently as they grow and redevelop so people, nature and industry can thrive.
