Statewide Energy Efficiency Best Practices Forum

The Local Government Commission is organizing the second annual Statewide Energy Efficiency Best Practices Forum to be held July 28th at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose, CA.  The full day event is offered free of charge to California local governments, publicly owned utilities, the California Energy Commission, the California Air Resources Board and the California Public Utilities Commission.

The forum will focus on highlighting the most innovative local energy and climate change programs in the state.   It will also feature key representatives from the California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Air Resources Board who will discuss state programs and regulations that affect local governments.

LGC is organizing the forum through SEEC, a partnership between LGC, ICLEI, the Institute for Local Governments and California’s four investor owned utilities.

Registration is now closed for this event. Walk-in registrations will be accommodated, but plan to arrive between 7:45-8:15 AM

An afternoon meeting will be held for Local Government Utility Partners on July 27 (Partners will receive a separate Save the Date announcement). An evening Energy Champions Networking Reception will follow, and is open to all Forum participants.

Conveniently located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, the Wyndham San Jose Hotel is just one mile from the San Jose International Airport, and offers complimentary airport shuttle service. The hotel is also easily accessible from Highways 101, 880, 280, 85 and 87. The light rail transit adjacent to the hotel offers easy access to the downtown, and many area attractions.

The LGC and our SEEC partners recognize that local budgets are extremely tight and that travel to events like this has become increasingly difficult. In light of these circumstances, we are offering this timely and important event FREE of charge to California local governments, publicly owned utilities, CEC, CARB and the CPUC. Additionally, we have chosen a venue that is easily accessible by ground and air transportation, and is offering very low room rate for participants of this event ($116, single or double occupancy). Deadline was July 6.

We are diligently working to find other ways to help reduce costs for participants, including providing assistance to participants who are interested in finding a roommate and/or carpooling.

Do you have an energy efficiency story to share with other local government forum participants?
Let us know about the good work you are doing. We’ll share them on the forum website. This will enable you to more easily connect with other folks at the event pursuing similar programs. Email your stories to Pat Stoner (pstoner ‘AT’ lgc ‘DOT’ org).

See what your peers are doing.
